Mickey began wholesaling loose finished stones to the local U.S. market in the early 1970s. In the late 1970s he started trading rough in West Africa. Buying trips to Brazil and Venezuela exposed him to the South American rough sources. A small office was opened in Antwerp, Belgium in the mid 1990s trading in both rough and finished to the international markets.
Some of the more notable experiences have been working with larger companies. Mickey became "EightStar's" rough buyer, making inroads to Canada and South Africa. For "Hearts on Fire" he made a rough buying trip to Tanzania and performed
diamond cutting demonstrations for some of their retailers.
Today he is also active with trading and cutting finished diamonds in the resale secondhand market. This service extends the life of the diamond with a more responsible approach to our environment.
Being a one-man show, Mickey has a more personal connection to his product and clientele.
